VA Dental (Bonus)
Expanding Access to Dental Sleep Medicine for Veterans
Coming Soon
Coming Soon TDSS is negotiating improved VA Dental fee schedules to make it financially viable for members to serve veterans requiring dental care. This creates an opportunity to build patient relationships, screen for obstructive sleep apnea during dental visits, and guide veterans back through the VA medical system for oral appliance therapy.
Program Overview

Current VA Dental reimbursement rates are too low for most private dental practices to participate in the program. TDSS is working to increase these rates to a level that allows members to provide quality dental care to veterans while maintaining practice viability. This opens the door to serving those who have served our country while creating a natural pathway to identify and treat undiagnosed sleep apnea.

What We're Building:

  • Improved VA Dental fee schedule rates for participating providers
  • Streamlined enrollment and credentialing for VA Dental services
  • Sleep apnea screening protocols integrated into dental workflows
  • Patient navigation resources to guide veterans from dental to VA medical for OAT referrals
  • Connection between dental relationship-building and medical sleep medicine treatment

Timeline: We anticipate finalizing fee schedule negotiations and launching member enrollment in Q3 2026. Once agreements are in place, TDSS members will receive complete training on VA Dental enrollment, screening workflows, and patient navigation protocols to seamlessly connect dental care with sleep apnea treatment pathways.

💡 In the Meantime: Master the VA Community Care referral process (MODULE 2) and establish relationships with VA facilities in your area (MODULE 4). When the VA Dental pathway launches, you'll already have the infrastructure to navigate patients from dental screening to medical sleep apnea treatment.
